COVID-19 Update - April 2, 2020

 

In this update:

State Updates

  • Gov. Baker has issued an order to close all state beach parking lots, including for drop-off.

  • Boston Convention Center will become a field hospital with 1,000 beds.

  • The peak in Massachusetts is expected to occur between April 10th and 20th.

  • Many people who are carrying the virus do not have any symptoms at all.

  • Partners Healthcare has obtained an N95 mask decontamination system that will decontaminate 80,000 masks per day.

Federal Updates

  • Treasury Department confirmed that people with social security income will receive their stimulus checks automatically.

  • The IRS expects to start issuing direct deposits of stimulus rebates on April 13th, and paper checks on May 4th.

  • There will be an online system to add or update your bank account information with the IRS, which will drastically decrease the amount of time it takes to get your check.

  • The House has created a bipartisan committee to oversee the Federal response of the coronavirus pandemic, including how the $2 trillion stimulus package is spent
